Maria Gstöttner (born February 8, 1984, in St. Pölten) is a former Austrian footballer. She is the all-time leading goalscorer of the ÖFB Women's Bundesliga. She scored 393 goals for USV Neulengbach in Austria's top flight. [1]

Career

The forward began her career at the age of six with SV Würmla. Then she moved to the USV Neulengbach youth team in . Gstöttner was already playing for USV Neulengbach in the ÖFB Women's League at the age of 14. She secured a regular starting spot that same year and ranked among the league's most successful goalscorers. She was the Bundesliga's top scorer every season from 2001 to 2005. In the 2012/13 season she was also top scorer.

In 2003, she won the league title for the first time with USV Neulengbach, playing a important role in the championship victory by scoring 28 goals. Between 2003 and 2012, she won the domestic double ten times in a row with Neulengbach, as well as the Supercup in 2003 and 2004. Neulengbach also secured the league title in 2013 and 2014. From that year on SKN St. Pölten took over as the dominant force. While many of Neulengbach's top players moved to St. Pölten, Gstöttner remained loyal to her club . On November 5, 2022, she ended her career following a home match against SKN. [2]

Gstöttner scored 393 goals in Austria's top league during her career. With twelve championship titles, she also holds the record for the most titles won by any player. Gstöttner likely holds the record for the most Bundesliga appearances as well. The records regarding this in Austrian women's football are extremely incomplete and difficult to reconstruct. Gstöttner made at least 300 appearances in the top league. In the 2003/04 season, she was also the top scorer in the Champions League (then known as the UEFA Women’s Cup) with eleven goals.

She also played 35 matches for the Austria women's national football team and scored 5 goals.
