Luca Cagnoni (born December 21, 2004) is a Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman. He currently plays for the San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League (NHL).
Before playing in the NHL, Cagnoni played three regular season games with the Alberni Valley Bulldogs of the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) and parts of four seasons with the Portland Winterhawks of the Western Hockey League (WHL). He had a success time with his teams. With the Winterhawks, he was named to the both the U.S. Division Second and First All-Star Team, as well as, the CHL Third All-Star Team.[1][2][3]
He was drafted 123rd overall by the San Jose Sharks in the 2023 NHL entry draft. On September 20, 2022, Cagnoni signed a two-year entry-level contract to join the Sharks.[4] He was sent down to play for their AHL-affiliate San Jose Barracuda.
On October 12, 2024, the Sharks called him up and Cagnoni made his NHL debut in a 3–1 loss against the Carolina Hurricanes.[5] On March 22, 2025, he recorded his first NHL point, assisting on a William Eklund goal in a 3–1 win against the Boston Bruins.[6]
