Daniel Oluwatobiloba Anidugbe (born 1 May 1994), known as Kizz Daniel (formerly Kiss Daniel), is a Nigerian singer and songwriter. He became well known in 2014 with his song "Woju".[1] In 2017, he started his own record label called Flyboy I.N.C.[2]

Early life

Kizz Daniel was born in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria.[3] He attended Abeokuta Grammar School. He later studied Water Resources Management at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, and finished in 2013.[4]

Career

2013–2014

Kizz Daniel began writing songs at the age of 11. He signed with a record label called G-Worldwide Entertainment in 2013. On 1 May 2014, he released his first song, "Shoye".[5]On 1 September 2014, he released "Woju". The song got a lot of radio and television play across Nigeria. Its music video reached number one on MTV Base's Nigeria Top 10 chart for six weeks.[6]

2015–2016

On 1 May 2015, he released a new song called "Laye". The video was shot in East Africa and won Best Video by a New Artist at the 2015 Nigerian Music Video Awards.[7]In April 2016, he released the song "Mama". It became the most-searched Nigerian song on Google in 2016.[8] It also reached number one on Nigerian radio charts for four weeks.

On 14 May 2016, he released his first studio album, New Era. The album had 20 songs. It reached number eight on the Billboard World Albums chart.[9] The album won Album of the Year at The Headies 2016.[10]

2017–2018

In November 2017, Kiss Daniel left G-Worldwide and started his own label, Flyboy I.N.C. G-Worldwide took him to court, but he was not found guilty of any of the things he was accused of.[11]In May 2018, he changed his stage name from Kiss Daniel to Kizz Daniel.[12]On 30 November 2018, he released his second studio album, No Bad Songz. The album had 20 songs and featured artists including Davido, Diamond Platnumz, and Sarkodie. It reached number one on the iTunes World Albums chart within 24 hours of being released.

2019–2020

On 15 March 2019, Kizz Daniel released "Fvck You". The song became popular through an online challenge in which many artists recorded their own versions of the song.[13]On 25 June 2020, he released his third studio album, King of Love.

2021–2022

On 19 November 2021, Kizz Daniel released a short album of seven songs called Barnabas. All seven songs appeared on Nigeria's music charts at the same time. The song "Lie" spent seven weeks at number one.[14]On 4 May 2022, he released the song "Buga" with Tekno. The song reached number one on Nigeria's TurnTable Top 100 chart for seven weeks and was named the top song of 2022 in Nigeria. At one point, it became the most Shazamed song in the world.[15] He also performed the song at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

On 8 August 2022, Kizz Daniel was arrested in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, after he did not perform at a show. He later said the problem was caused by delays in travel, lost bags, and problems with the event's organisation.[16]On 14 October 2022, he released the song "Cough (Odo)". It debuted at number one on Nigeria's TurnTable Top 100 chart.[17]

2023–2024

On 28 July 2023, he released his fourth studio album, Maverick. The album had guest singers including Davido, Becky G, and Yemi Alade.

On 11 December 2023, he released two songs: "Too Busy to Be Bae" and "Twe Twe". A remix of "Twe Twe" with Davido was released on 26 January 2024 and won No. 1 Song at the TurnTable Music Awards.[18]On 11 March 2024, he released a short album called TZA, with four songs.

Personal life

On 1 May 2021, Kizz Daniel had triplets. One of the babies died four days after birth. He later bought homes for his two surviving children.[19]In June 2025, Kizz Daniel said he was taking a break from making music to spend more time with his family.[20]
