Katy Jurado (16 January 1924 – 5 July 2002) was a Mexicanactress. She had a successful career in both Mexico and Hollywood. She made seventy-one movies. She was the first Latin American actress nominated for an Academy Award (for a 1954 movie, Broken Lance). She also received a Golden Globe Award.
Jurado was often typecast to play ethnic roles when acting in American movies. She received more varieties of roles in Mexican movies. She was one of several Mexican actresses to succeed in Hollywood. Notable movies included Broken Lance, High Noon and The Badlanders.
