Katja Homeyer

Katja Homeyer (born 1969)[1] is a German wheel gymnast.[2][3] She won many German, European, and World titles.

Katja Homeyer (born 1969)[1] is a German wheel gymnast.[2][3] She won many German, European, and World titles.

Gymnast

Homeyer started wheel gymnastics when she was twelve[4]. She stopped from competing in 1999.[4]

Her first big result was in 1987.She placed third at the German Junior Championships.[4] Between 1990 and 1994, she won more than one European titles.[5]

Between 1995 and 1999, she won four World Championship medals.[6][7][8][9]

Coach

Homeyer has coached at local clubs and for the German national team:

  • Coach at TSV Bleidenstadt in Taunusstein[10][3]
  • Head coach (Bundestrainerin) for the German national team[2][11]

In 2023, she got the Hesse State Sports Medal for her work as a coach.[10]

Family

Her partner, Jürgen Bientzle, is a wheel gymnastics coach.[13] Her children, Kira Homeyer and Marvin Homeyer, are both international wheel gymnasts.[14][15] Their youngest daughter, Finia, competes in junior national events.[16] World Champion Wolfgang Bientzle is her brother-in-law.[17][18]
