The Karnali Bridge is an iconic asymmetric, single-tower, cable-stayed bridge that spans the Karnali River in western Nepal. Located at Chisapani, it serves as a vital gateway connecting the Kailali and Bardiya districts along the Mahendra Highway. It is the first and longest bridge of its type in Nepal, featuring a single pylon from which cables support a composite truss deck. The bridge is 500 meters long, 10 meters wide, and stands 125 meters high. Completed in 1993 and inaugurated in 1994, it was designed by the American firm Steinman, Boynton, Gronquist & Birdsall and constructed by Kawasaki Heavy Industries of Japan. The structure utilizes approximately 3,870 tons of steel.
