Juan José Arévalo Bermejo (10 September 1904[1] – 8 October 1990) was a Guatemalan politician who became Guatemala's first democratically elected president in 1945. He remained in office until 1951, surviving 25 coup attempts.

His son is President Bernardo Arévalo.

He died in Guatemala City on 8 October 1990 at the age of 86.[2]
