José Alencar Gomes da Silva (Portuguese pronunciation: [ʒuˈzɛ ɐlẽˈkaʁ ˈɡõmiz dɐ ˈsiwvɐ]; 17 October 1931 – 29 March 2011), also known as José Alencar, the Strong, was a Brazilian businessman and politician. He served as the Vice President of Brazil from 2003 to 2010.
Alencar died from kidney, stomach, and prostate cancer in São Paulo, São Paulo, aged 79.[1]
