John Chizoba Vincent[1] (born on 18 May 1990) is a Nigerian filmmaker[2] [3] and Author. He was born and raised in Aba, Abia state.[

John Chizoba Vincent[1] (born on 18 May 1990) is a Nigerian filmmaker[2] [3] and Author. He was born and raised in Aba, Abia state.[4] His written essays and Poems have appeared in Poemhunter, Poetrysoup, AfricanWriter,[5] Punocracy, Afrocritik, Vanguard, Punch and Pulse Nigeria. He was a contributor to Wreath for a Wayfarer[6][7]—  an anthology of Poetry for the late Pius Adesanmi,[8] Unbound:Unbound: An Anthology of New Nigerian Poets Under 40[9] Edited by Chibueze Darlington Anuonye, and Nduka Otiono, 84 Delicious Bottles of Wine[10] for Wole Soyinka by Shawa Odega and Onyeka Nwelue and Arrow of Words[11] for Chinua Achebe edited by Izunna Okafor.

Early Life And Education

Chizoba[12] was born on 18 May 1990 and raised at Aba where he lived with his parents. Chizoba spent part of his childhood between Nkporo and Aba with his parents. He had his primary education briefly at Owerri-Aba Community school, Ugwunagbo then moved to His Image Nursery and Primary School, Aba, where he completed his primary education. He later moved to Lagos to continue secondary education briefly at Jimbell High School and later proceeded to Olorunfunmi senior Grammar, Idimu, Lagos, where he completed his secondary School education and graduated from Lagos State University of Science and Technology, Ikorodu.

Career

From 2009 to 2016,  Chizoba worked as a teacher in Primary and Secondary schools around Lagos state. After graduating from the University, he proceeded to learn acting at the Helen Paul Theatre and Film Academy in 2015.

Since 2013, Vincent[13] has written and published over seven books[14] [15]which include Good Mama, Hard Times, The Poet Of Witness, The Grief Gallery, Don't Call Us Water, There Are No Africans In Heaven, and For Boys of Tomorrow.[16]

He has written over thirty screenplays[17][18] which have been produced. Some of the films he has written and directed include: Love In The Strangest Place, To Love A Street Girl, Love Birds, Pride and Seduction, Differences, Married To An Influencer, When Life Happens, Love and Respect, Sound of Hatred, Broad Amos, Resident 38, Daughtas, Don't Call Us Water, Haunting Realities and Lives and Personalities. His short film — Distraction directed with Olamide was  selected for a film festival in São Paulo, Brazil. His works have appeared at Nantygreen, Opinio Nigeria, Vanguard, The Guardian, Punocracy, and many other places. He is the Creative director of The Philm Republic Picture, a Media and production house in Lagos.
