Jean-Michel Basquiat was a contemporary artist from New York. He was born in 1960 and died in 1988. He is mainly known for his graffiti today. He is also known for being one of the first black artists. Most if not all of his colleagues were white. He also had problems with illegal drugs. He died of an overdose of heroin.
As an artist, he worked a lot with Andy Warhol.[1]
