Halkalı is a quarter in İstanbul, Turkey. It has a population of approximately 331.444 as of 2024. [1] Tema World and Halkalı Square are located here.

History

It received the title of municipality between 1976-1980.[2] Before that, it goes back to being the village of Büyükhalkalı (large Halkalı), village of Küçükhalkalı (small Halkalı) and village of Yarımburgaz [3]. Halkalı Train Station was opened in 1872. [4]

Geography

Halkalı is located at 41°02′06″N 28°47′20″E in Marmara Region. The quarter that has a shore on Lake Küçükçekmece also contains some streams. [4][5]

Neighbourhoods

Although historically regarded as a neighbourhood belonging to Halkalı, Altınşehir has developed a quarter identity, particularly following the establishment of the Başakşehir district, the rapid urbanisation of the area, and changes in local naming conventions.

Halkalı has a population of 331.444 as of 2024. Quarters aren't official in Turkey, so the population was calculated by adding up the populations of the neighbourhoods in each quarter.[1]
