The Gothic Line, was a defence line created by Axis forces in North Italy during late 1944 during World War II in Italy. it was the last major defence line in Italy for the axis against Allied forces led by the UK and US. battles against both alliances in the area lasted for months with no major breakthrough from any side. two of the most notable battles were the Battle of Rimini, where Greco-Commonwealth forces won against German forces, and the Battle of Garfagnana, where mainly US forces fought against German-Fascist Italian forces with the Axis winning by gaining some land from the Allies. in April 1945, the Allied Spring 1945 offensive in Italy broke through axis defences and the Allies would win in May.
