Gavin James Creel (April 18, 1976 – September 30, 2024) was an American actor and pop singer-songwriter. He was best known for his work in musical theater. Creel was born in Findlay, Ohio. His career began in 1997. During his career, he won a Tony Award, a Laurence Olivier Award, a Drama Desk Award and a Grammy Award.

Creel had his first Broadway role in 2002 in the leading role of Jimmy in Thoroughly Modern Millie. He later starred as Claude in the 2009 Broadway revival of Hair. From 2012 to 2015, he starred as Elder Price in The Book of Mormon.

Creel was openly gay.[1] In 2009, Creel dated actor Jonathan Groff.[2]

In July 2024, Creel was diagnosed with a metastatic melanotic peripheral nerve sheath sarcoma.[3] He died from the disease at his home in New York City on September 30, 2024, at the age of 48.[3][4]
