Fluoronium

Fluoronium is a cation (chemical compound with positive electric charge) made of hydrogen and fluorine. It has the chemical formula H2F+. It can also mean any halonium ion based on fluorine.[1]

Fluoronium is a very strong acid. It is the conjugate acid of hydrogen fluoride, a chemical that is one of the weakest bases. Fluoronium is the main source of acidity in superacids based on HF, including fluoroantimonic acid, by some definitions the strongest known acid.[2]
