John Donald Budge (June 13, 1915 – January 26, 2000) was an American tennis player. He was known as the first tennis player to win all four Grand Slam events .[ 3] backhands in the history of tennis.[ 4] [ 5]
In December 1999, Budge was injured in a car crash and he never fully recovered. He died on January 26, 2000, at a nursing home in Scranton, Pennsylvania , aged 84.[ 6]
