Domeykosaurus is an extinct genus of dinosaur that lived during the Late Cretaceous.

Domeykosaurus (meaning "Domeyko lizard") was named after 19th-century scientist Ignacy Domeyko) It was a sauropod, more specifically a Titanosaur.

Its fossils were found in Chile by paleontologists David Rubilar and Alexander Vargas in 2003. Their fossils showed around 40% of the dinosaur's body. This makes the Domeykosaurus fossil the most complete example of any dinosaur found in Chile.

Characteristics

Domeykosaurus was 25 feet long and 6.5 feet wide, with the long neck and tail typical of titanosaurs. It was uncharacteristically gracile, with more slender limbs than are usually associated with its type.

Paleontologists speculate that Domeykosaurus, a herbivore, probably ate plants like the extant genus Araucaria. This genus has been called the "Monkey Puzzle Tree" and is native to the area.
