Domenico Modugno (Italian pronunciation: [doˈmeːniko moˈduɲɲo]; 9 January 1928 – 6 August 1994) was an Italian folk pop singer-songwriter, actor, guitarist, and politician. He was a member of the Italian Parliament from 1987 until 1992. He was known for his 1958 international hit song "Nel blu dipinto di blu" for which he won two Grammy Awards.[1] Modugno was born in Polignano a Mare, Italy. He was a member of the Radical Party.

He represented Italy at the 1958 Eurovision Song Contest, coming in third place.

Modugno died on 6 August 1994 at his home in Lampedusa, Italy from a heart attack caused by a stroke, aged 66.[1]
