Delano Geerman (born 3 September 1999) is a Dutch-Antillean criminal who shot crime reporter Peter R. de Vries in the center of Amsterdam on July 6, 2021; De Vries died on July 15, 2021, as a result of the assassination attempt.

Geerman was arrested shortly after the attack on the A4 motorway in Leidschendam, together with driver Kamil Egiert.

Biography

Geerman was born on 3 September 1999 and growed up in Tiel, Gelderland.

In 2013, Geerman participated in the television program 'So You Think You Can Dance'.

In 2017 was Geerman for 10 months in prison in the Hunnerberg youth prison in Nijmegen for street robberies and burglaries.

In 2019, under the rap name Demper, he released the song Bouw op mezelf.

Murder of Peter R. de Vries

On 6 July 2021 Peter R. de Vries was walking to his car in the centre of Amsterdam, then 21 year-old Geerman shot De Vries in his head and was leaving the scene with driver Kamil Egiert. Geerman and Egiert were arrested on the A4 motorway in Leidschendam 60 km away from Amsterdam. On 15 July 2021 de Vries died in the hospital of Amsterdam.

Trial

In 2022, the Public Prosecution Service demanded a life sentence for Geerman for shooting De Vries, but the judge took a different view. Geerman was sencented in 2025 for 27,5 years in prison for the murder of de Vries.
