Daphne Allen

Daphne Constance Allen (6 January 1899 – 1985) was a British painter and illustrator. She painted religious scenes, landscapes, and made illustrations.

Daphne Constance Allen (6 January 1899 – 1985) was a British painter and illustrator. She painted religious scenes, landscapes, and made illustrations.

Early life

She was born in London. Her father, Hugh Allen, was also a painter. She learned to paint from her parents.[1]

As a child, she made two books of pictures: The Birth of the Opal and A Child’s Visions.[2]

Work and career

She painted religious pictures and landscapes. She also made illustrations for books and magazines. She worked for The Illustrated London News, The Sketch, and Tatler.[3]

She showed her paintings in art exhibitions in London.[2]Some of her paintings are in the Victoria and Albert Museum.

She lived in Chalford, Gloucestershire, for many years. She was a member of the Royal Society of Painters in Water Colours.

Daphne Allen died in 1985 in Nailsworth, Gloucestershire.[4]
