County Championship

The County Championship is the national first-class cricket championship of England and Wales. While the concept has tentative origins stretching back to the 1720s as a sort of "bragging rights", the County Championship was not formally organised as an official competition until 1890. Since 2000, it has involved 18 county teams who are split into two divisions. Each team plays the other eight in its division both home and away in double innings fixtures with a duration of up to four days. The most successful team is Yorkshire, who have won the title outright on 32 occasions, most recently in 2014 and 2015.[1]
