Chaluk[1][2] or Chalok[3] is a clan originally affiliated with the large Gurjar ethnicity community of India and Pakistan. The Gujjar families who bear this clan name are mostly inhabited in the north Indian states of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh. Some are also found in Pakistani-administered Kashmir and Punjab, Pakistan.
Gujjar is a martial community which struggled for the preservation of their freedom for centuries. Gujar or Gurjar gotras are numerous in Karnal. A few of them in general are listed below : - 1. Cheehi 2. Poswal 3. Bhadana 4. Chhokar 5. Bhumla 6. Bhatti 7. Meelu 8. Gighar 9. Kepar 10. Chauhan 11. Chaudhry 12. Kataria 13. Pratiharas 14.Parmars 15.Chalukas (Chaluk).
