Cece Bell is a writer for kids and an artist.^[1] She wrote 18 books total.^[2] Bell is best known for her book: El Deafo.^[3]

Bell studied art at Kent State University.^[4] Then went to college at the College of William and Mary.^[4] She worked in the graphic design department and studied in art.^[4]

Cece Bell writes books for kids, draws picture books, and graphic novels too.^[1] She sometimes writes with her husband, Tom Angleberger.^[4] She enjoys making fun books for children.^[2]

Raina Telgemeier’s book, “Smile”, gave her a new idea. She wrote “El Deafo” as a graphic novel rather than a novel. She wrote from her personal experience. Bell wanted to show her point of view as a deaf kid. She talks about her life. Sign language was hard for her. In Bell’s book, “El Deafo”, she helps people understand this matter by sending a message: when you talk to a deaf person, there is no need to speak in a loud or strange way for them to understand.

Cece Bell has written 18 books including “El Deafo”, “Smell My Foot”, “Rabbit & Robot” and “Itty Bitty”.^[5] She writes kids books, picture books, and graphic novels.^[5] Bell wrote and drew 3 books with her husband, Tom Angleberger.^[4]

Bell has 27 awards in total. Her 7 books that won awards are “El Deafo”, “Smell My Foot” “Animal Albums from A to Z”, “I Yam a Donkey”, “Rabbit & Robot: The Sleepover”, “Egg or Eyeball”, and “Rabbit & Robot & Ribbit”. Some of Bell’s awards are the John Newbery Medal, Eisner Awards, and the NYT Best Illustrated Children’s Books.
