On 23 May 1992, an infamous Italian criminal and terrorist mafia organization called the Sicilian Mafia carried a bombing attack to assassinate anti-mafia judge Giovanni Falcone near Capaci (Palermo, Sicily). The bombers had triggered an explosion a section of the A29 motorway at 17:56, when the accompanying escort including Falcone, his wife and police officers were placed in three armoured Fiat Croma cars, was passing by. Additionally, four others were also killed: his wife, Francesca Morvillo (also a judge) and escorts Vito Schifani, Rocco Dicillo and Antonio Montinaro. 23 people were injured, including agents Paolo Capuzza, Angelo Corbo, Gaspare Cervello and Falcone's driver, Giuseppe Costanza.
