The Boorowa River is in New South Wales, Australia. It is a perennial stream. The river is part of the Lachlan catchment. The catchment is in the Murray-Darling basin. The river rises about 16 kilometres (9.9 mi) north of Yass. It flows north. The river has two minor tributaries. It reaches its confluence with the Lachlan River about 18 kilometres (11 mi) south–east of Cowra.^[3] The river drops 318 metres (1,043 ft) over its course of 134 kilometres (83 mi).^[2]

The river flows through the town of Boorowa. The river is named after the town. Boorowa is an Aboriginal Wiradjuri word for kangaroo.^[1]
