Marcel Theo Hall (April 8, 1964 – July 16, 2021), known professionally as Biz Markie , was an American rapper , DJ , and record producer . He was best known for his 1989 single, "Just a Friend ".
Markie was born in Harlem , Manhattan , New York City .[ 2] He married Tara Hall in 2005.[ 3]
Markie was nicknamed the "Clown Prince of Hip Hop".[ 4]
On July 1, 2021, there had been rumors about Markie dying.[ 5]
Markie died fifteen days later on July 16 in Baltimore, Maryland from diabetes -related problems at age 57.[ 6]
