Arena Breakout is a first-person shooter game developed by Cube Studio, a subsidiary of Tencent Games. Arena Breakout was released in mainland China by Tencent Games on July 13, 2022, and globally by Level Infinite on July 14, 2023, for iOS and Android. The game was released on Microsoft Windows at the end of 2024 under the name "Arena Breakout: Infinite", and the early access version was announced on August 13 of that year.
The game is based on tactical game as its core gameplay, and its design is relatively hardcore and realistic. Players must bring some equipment before starting the game, and use these equipment to fight against other players or the environment in the game map, and collect more valuable props while exploring and then return.If a player dies in the game, they will lose most of their equipment.The game also introduces features such as ray tracing and frame prediction.
Many reviewers praised the gameplay, art, and user interface design, but some media outlets criticized the game's high learning curve. Arena Breakout: Infinite has also been criticized for its unreasonable in-app purchase payment model. Critics argue that player-purchased equipment creates significant disparity between players and cannot be permanently retained. The game’s main competitor, Escape from Tarkov, accused it of plagiarism. However, the claim was denied by many players and some media outlets. The controversy led some Escape from Tarkov players to switch to Arena Breakout: Infinite.
