Anthony Mantha (born September 16, 1994) is a Canadian professional ice hockey forward. He currently plays for the Pittsburgh Penguins of the National Hockey League (NHL). He has also played for the Detroit Red Wings, Washington Capitals, Vegas Golden Knights, and Calgary Flames.

Career

Before playing in the NHL, Mantha played parts of four seasons with the Val-d'Or Foreurs of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). He had a successful time with the Foreurs. He played in the CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game and was named to the QMJHL Second All-Star Team in his [1][2] The next season, he was awarded the Jean Béliveau Trophy for being the QMJHL's top scorer, the Michel Brière Memorial Trophy for the QMJHL's Most Valuable Player, and the CHL Player of the Year. He was also named to the QMJHL First All-Star Team.[3][4]

He was drafted 20th overall by the Detroit Red Wings in the 2013 NHL entry draft.[5] On October 12, he signed a three-year, entry-level contract to join the Red Wings.[6] He was immediately sent down to play for their AHL-affiliate Grand Rapids Griffins. On March 14, 2016, the Red Wings called him up and he made his NHL debut the next night in a 4–3 loss against the Philadelphia Flyers.[7] On March 22, he recorded is first NHL point, assisting on a Darren Helm goal in a 6–2 loss against the Tampa Bay Lightning.[8] Two days later, Mantha scored his first NHL goal against Ben Scrivens in a 4–3 win against the Montreal Canadiens.[9] On November 3, 2020, Mantha signed a four-year, $22.8 million contract to stay with the Red Wings.[10]

On April 12, 2021, the Red Wings traded Mantha to the Washington Capitals in exchange for Jakub Vrána, Richard Pánik, a 2021 first-round draft pick and a 2022 second-round pick.[11] He played parts of four seasons with the Capitals, scoring 44 goals and recording 48 assists.

On March 5, 2024, the Red Wings traded Mantha to the Vegas Golden Knights in exchange for a 2024 second-round draft pick and a 2026 fourth-round pick.[12] He played 18 games with them, scoring 3 goals and recording 7 assists.

On July 1, 2024, he signed a one-year, $3.5 million contract to join the Calgary Flames.[13] He played 13 games with them, scoring 4 goals and recording 3 assists.

On July 2, 2025, Mantha signed a one year, $2.5 million contract to join the Pittsburgh Penguins.[14]
