Ananth Kumar (22 July 1959 – 12 November 2018) was an Indian politician. He was a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party. From 1996 until his death, he had represented the Bangalore South constituency in the Lok Sabha. He was born in Bengaluru, Mysore State (now called Karnataka).

Kumar was in charge of two key ministries until his death: Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers beginning in May 2014 and as Minister of Parliamentary Affairs beginning in July 2016 in the Narendra Modi government.

Political career

Ananth Kumar joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and became an important leader in Karnataka. He was first elected to the Lok Sabha in 1996. After that, he won many elections and continued to represent Bengaluru South for more than 20 years.[1]

He was a close supporter of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In May 2014, when Modi became Prime Minister, Ananth Kumar was made the Union Minister of Chemicals and Fertilizers. Later, in July 2016, he also became the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs. These are important jobs in the government, where he helped make laws and manage government work.

Death

Ananth Kumar was diagnosed with lung cancer. He died on 12 November 2018 in Bengaluru at the age of 59. His death was mourned by many leaders and citizens.[2] [3]
