Aluminosilicates are a type of mineral containing silicon and aluminium oxides. They are made when an aluminium atom replaces a silicon atom in silica or a silicate mineral.[1]

Aluminosilicates are some of the most common and most important minerals. Oxygen, silicon, and aluminium are the three most common elements in Earth's crust. A majority of the crust is made up of feldspars, a type of aluminosilicate.[source?] Emerald is the most famous aluminosilicate gemstone; others include topaz, garnet, and jadeite. Many types of clay are rich in aluminosilicates, such as the kaolinite used to make porcelain.
