Alex Vlasic (born June 5, 2001) is an American professional ice hockey defenseman. He currently plays for the Chicago Blackhawks of the National Hockey League (NHL).
Before playing in the NHL, Vlasic played two seasons with the U.S. National Development Team of the United States Hockey League (USHL) and three years with the Boston University Terriers of Hockey East. He had a successful time with his teams. He scored 1 goal and recorded 7 assists for 8 points and was named a Hockey East All-Star for his efforts.[1]
He was drafted 43rd overall by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2019 NHL entry draft.[2] On March 15, 2022, Vlasic signed a three-year, $916,667 entry-level contract to join the Blackhawks.[3] On December 13, 2025, Vlasic made his NHL debut in a 3–1 loss against the Minnesota Wild.[4] On April 20, Vlasic scored his first NHL goal against Karel Vejmelka in a 4–3 win against the Arizona Coyotes.[5]
On April 25, 2024, Vlasic signed a six-year, $27.6 million contract to stay with the Blackhawks.[6]
Vlasic's older cousin Marc-Édouard also played in the NHL for 19 seasons in the NHL for the San Jose Sharks.[7] his older sister Emma is also a professional ice hockey player.[8]
When he was 13 years old, Vlasic was diagnosed with celiac disease.[9]
