Tibetanci su narod koji živi u Tibetu i okolnim područjima. Predstavljaju jednu od 56 etničkih grupa službeno priznatih od NR Kine kao Zhonghua Minzu (kineska etnička grupa), iako se u antropološkom smislu mogu smatrati kao više od jedne etničke grupe. Prema službenom popisu iz 1959, broj Tibetanaca u NR Kini je iznosio 6,330.567 [1] Arhivirano 2011-02-24 na Wikiwix-u. Dokumenti SIL Ethnologuea navode dodatnih 125.000 osoba koje govore tibetanski u Indiji, 60.000 u Nepalu te 4.000 u Butanu.
