Braničevski okrug

Braničevski okrug se nalazi u severoistočnom delu Srbije. Obuhvata opštine:

  1. Opština Veliko Gradište mesto Veliko Gradište
  2. Opština Požarevac mesto Požarevac
  3. Opština Golubac mesto Golubac
  4. Opština Malo Crniće mesto Malo Crniće
  5. Opština Žabari mesto Žabari
  6. Opština Petrovac mesto Petrovac
  7. Opština Kučevo mesto Kučevo
  8. Opština Žagubica mesto Žagubica

Ima ukupno 253.492 stanovnika.

Sedište okruga je grad Požarevac, poznata raskrsnica puteva, kroz koji i danas vode brojne saobraćajnice.

Sredinom XIX veka, u vreme osamostaljivanja srpske države, Požarevac postaje, pored Kragujevca, druga prestonica kneza Miloša Obrenovića. Knez Miloš Obrenović je još za života podigao sebi, u Požarevcu, spomenike:

  • crkvu (1819.godine), konak - dvorac (1825. Godine)
  • novu čaršiju (1827. Godine) i
  • ergelu - Ljubičevo (1860. Godine).

Kulturne znamenitosti Požarevca su:

  • Narodni muzej (prvi sagrađen nakon beogradskog)
  • Etno park Tulba (jedinstveni muzej u prirodi)
  • Galerija slika Milene Pavlović - Barili (poznate slikarke i pesnikinje nadrealizma).

Privredni kapaciteti ovog okruga koncentrisani su u blizini gradova Požarevac i Kostolac.

Načelnik okruga je Goran S. Petrović (odlukom Vlade Republike Srbije od 28. juna 2007. godine).
