Osona (Catalan pronunciation: [uˈzonə]) is a comarca situatit in central Catalonie, Spain. Its caipital is Vic. Its population in 2001 wis 129,543. Osona covers roughly the same aurie as the historic Catalan coonty o Osona. The name Osona comes frae Ausetans, a group o Iberie fowk that haed thair caipital in Ausa (the day Vic); the Romans cried the aurie Ausone or Ausona. While maist o the comarca is athin the province o Barcelona, the municipalities o Espinelves, Vidrà an Viladrau shape pairt o the province o Girona.
Lang famous for its sausages (especially fuet) an ither pork derivatives, in recent years the aurie haes acome somewha infamous for the pollution o its watterwas due tae the factory fermin o pigs.
In Mey 2015, Osona lost the municipality o Collsuspina tae the new comarca o Moianès.[1]
