Eckerö is a municipality o Åland, an autonomous territory unner Finnish sovereignty. The municipality haes a population o 942 (28 Februar 2023)[2] an covers an aurie o 752.67 square kilometre (290.61 sq mi) o which 644.94 km2 (249.01 sq mi) is watter.[1] The population densitie is 8.75 inhabitants per square kilometre (22.7/sq mi).

The municipality is unilingually Swadish an 90% o the population are Swadish speakers. It is the wastmaist municipality o Åland an Finland. The company Eckerö Linjen operates a ferry connection atween Berghamn in Storby, Eckerö an Grisslehamn on Väddö, Norrtälje in Swaden.

The municipality haes been kent as Ekkerö in earlier Finnish documents an aw,[6] but is thir days referred tae as "Eckerö" in Finnish an aw.

Eckerö's maist famous biggin is the Post an Customs house. It is the mucklemaist an maist inbeirin biggin that haes been erect tae aid the postal services atween Stockholm an St. Petersburg. The biggin wis biggit in the Russian times in 1828 an architect C.L Engel made the construction plans.[7]
