Глава Якутска — высшее должностное лицо Якутска, возглавляющее высший орган исполнительной власти города — Окружную администрацию «Город Якутск» [1]. Глава городского округа «город Якутск» осуществляет исполнительно-распорядительную, координирующую и контрольную деятельность на территории города Якутска, возглавляющий Окружную администрацию на принципах единоначалия [2]. Правовой статус главы округа определяется Конституцией Российской Федерации, федеральными законами, Конституцией (Основным законом) Республики Саха (Якутия), законами Республики Саха (Якутия), настоящим Уставом и принимаемыми в соответствии с ними решениями Якутской городской Думы [3].

Полномочия мэра Якутска

Мэр города в пределах своих полномочий отвечает за состояние всех сфер жизнедеятельности города, реализацию принимаемых планов и программ социально-экономического развития города, принятие своевременных мер в случаях чрезвычайных обстоятельств, представляющих угрозу жизни граждан, их безопасности и правам [4].

Координирует вопросы и обеспечивает руководство деятельностью по выработке государственной политики и нормативно-правовому регулированию в сфере демографии и гендерного равенства, социальной защиты населения, в том числе социальной защиты семьи, женщин и детей, граждан пожилого возраста и ветеранов, опеки и попечительства в отношении совершеннолетних недееспособных или не полностью дееспособных граждан, социального обслуживания населения; в сфере занятости населения и безработицы, трудовой миграции, альтернативной гражданской службы [5].

Срок полномочий мэра Якутска — 5 лет [6].
