Estação de tratamento de águas residuais de Frielas

A ETAR de Frielas, situada na freguesia do mesmo nome, é a peça-chave no processo de recuperação do rio Trancão, tendo entrado em funcionamento em 1999.

É uma das mais modernas de Portugal, pelas tecnologias de ponta que incorporou: biofiltros e tratamento por ultravioleta. É responsável pelo tratamento dos esgotos de uma vastíssima área que se estende desde a Brandoa (Amadora) a Vila Franca de Xira, e recebe diariamente a quantidade de 40 000m³ de água, equivalentes àqueles produzidos por 700 mil habitantes, o que dá uma média de 2 milhões de litros/hora.
