Obrona Philidora (C41)

Obrona Philidora – debiut otwarty, oznaczony kodem ECO C41 i charakteryzujący się posunięciami:

1.e4 e5
2.Sf3 d6

Najczęściej wybieraną przez białe kontynuacją jest teraz 3.d4, na co czarne najczęściej wybierają kontynuacje 3...e:d4, 3...Sf6 i 3...Sd7. Obrona ta znana była od XVI wieku, lecz spopularyzowana została dopiero przez Philidora, twierdzącego, że posunięcie 2...Sc6 jest słabsze, zagradza bowiem drogę pionowi c. W odpowiedzi na 3.d4 Philidor grywał kontrgambit 3...f5. Praktyka turniejowa nie potwierdziła tej teorii: kontrgambit Philidora współcześnie oceniany jest jako niepoprawny, a obrona Philidora – jako zbyt pasywna, co powoduje, że nie bywa często stosowana w partiach turniejowych.
