Jesu oppstandelse
I sine debatter argumenterer Craig ofte også i spørsmålet om Jesu oppstandelse. Han har i dette emne debattert bl.a.
Craigs argument for Jesu oppstandelse bygger på såk. "minimale fakta". Det er et argument som konsentrerer seg kring det en majoritet av Nytestamentlige forskere anser for å være sant i historien om Jesu død og oppstandelse[6].
Disse "minimale fakta" er som følger:
Etter sin død ble Jesus begravet i graven til Josef fra Arimatea.
Søndagen etter sin begravelse ble Jesu grav funnet tom, av noen kvinnelige disipler.
Flere ganger og under forskjellige omstendigheter opplevde individer og grupper av mennesker å se Jesus levende, efter hans død.
De første disiplene kom til å tro at Jesus var oppstanden fra de døde, til tross for sin tidligere predisposisjon for det motsatte.
Kritikk
William L. Craig har blitt anklaget for å benytte sirkulære argumenter, og ugyldige premisser i sitt forsvar av kristendommen . Biologen Richard Dawkins, en av verdens mest profilerte ateister, har sagt han ikke ønsker å debattere med Craig om Guds eksistens. Dawkins har begrunnet dette med at et møte vil ta seg godt ut på Craigs CV, men mindre godt på hans egen.[7] Dr. Daniel Came, som er kollega av Dawkins ved University of Oxford kaller Dawkins holdning kynisk og anti-intelektuell.
