Uwe Mèffert (1939–2022) var en tysk designer og oppfinner. Han laget og solgte mekaniske puslespill over flere tiår.

I begynnelsen av 1970-årene, undersøkete Uwe Mèffert energistrømmene i menneskekroppen og hvilke eventuelle effekter forskjellige former har på energistrømmene. Pyramider var populære på den tiden.[klargjør] Han laget forskjellige polygon av balsatre, men de ble etter hvert kjedelig for ham, så han kuttet dem i symmetriske stykker og festet dem med gummistrikker til en senterball. Det var avslappende å leke med dem, men formene hadde liten virkning. Uwe Mèffert la derfor figurene i en skuff.

Da Erno Rubik's oppfinnelse, Rubiks kube, ble populær, overtalte en venn Uwe Mèffert til å selge puslespillene. I 1981 viste Uwe Mèffert puslespillene til Tomy Toys i Japan. Tomy Toys valgte ut det pyramideformede leketøyet, Pyraminx, og satte det i produksjon. Over 10 millioner puslespill ble solgt allerede julen 1981. Deretter fulgte andre puslespill.

Biografi

Uwe Mèffert ble født i Wernigerode i Tyskland 28. november 1939. Foreldrene var farmasøyt Otto Oscar Wilhelm Rudolph Meffert og Emmy Johanna Frieda Von-Vorkauf. Han hadde en fire år yngre bror som ble ingeniør. Han giftet seg med Jing Mèffert og fikk tre barn, Michelle, Andrew og Ulrich.

Mèffert hadde utdannelse fra Heidelberg i Tyskland, Geelong i Australia, Bern i Sveits, og fra flere asiatiske land.
