Salten politidistrikt var et norsk politidistrikt som var underlagt Politidirektoratet og Justis- og beredskapsdepartementet. Politidistriktet ble opprettet 1. januar 2002. Det opphørte 1. januar 2016, samtidig som det ble innlemmet i Nordland politidistrikt.

Politidistriktet dekket tolv kommuner i og omkring distriktet Salten, med en befolkning på rundt 85 000 innbyggere. Salten politidistrikts hovedsete var Bodø, med adresse Kongens gate 81.[1]

Distriktet bestod av Region sentrum som omfattet Bodø politistasjon og Værøy og Røst lensmannskontor, Region Ytre som bestod av Gildeskål lensmannskontor, Meløy lensmannskontor og Rødøy lensmannskontor, samt Region Indre som bestod av Fauske og Sørfold lensmannskontor, Saltdal og Beiarn lensmannskontor, Steigen lensmannskontor og Hamarøy lensmannskontor.[2]

Geir Ove Heir, som har bakgrunn som politimester i Vestfinnmark, var politimester i Salten fra 1. desember 2011.[3] Politiinspektør Heidi Kløkstad var leder for Retts- og påtaleenheten, og var Heirs faste stedfortreder.[2] Politiinspektør Arne Hammer, lensmann Robin Johnsen og lensmann Jim Kristiansen var regionledere for henholdsvis Region Sentrum, Region Indre og Region Ytre, mens Jan Tore Hagnes ledet distriktets administrative enhet.[2]

Før 1. januar 2002 tilsvarte Bodø politidistrikt omtrent det som senere ble Salten politidistrikt. Kommunene Værøy, Røst og Hamarøy ble 1. januar 2002 del av Salten politidistrikt. De to første kommunene var før dette del av Lofoten og Vesterålen politidistrikt, mens Hamarøy var del av Narvik politidistrikt.

Salten politidistrikt ble i forbindelse med Nærpolitireformen foreslått slått sammen med Helgeland politidistrikt og den del av Midtre Hålogaland politidistrikt som lå i Nordland fylke (Lofoten, Vesterålen og Ofoten) til Nordland politidistrikt.
