Lorentzen er en norsk slekt fra Skottland.

Fra Leith i Skottland kom i 1828 James Stove (1821–1901) som antok Lorentzen som etternavn etter stefaren, Jørgen Lorentzen (1788–1861). De bodde i Drammen og James drev innen skipsfart, og ble far til blant andre kaptein Johannes Lorentzen (1864–1931) som igjen fikk barna James Stove-Lorentzen (1893–1920), Axel Borgval Lorentzen (1895–1952), Frithjof Hunter Lorentzen (1896–1965) og Jørgen Johannes Lorentzen (1897–1975). De to eldste (James og Axel) startet Lorentzen & Co. i 1919. De to yngste Frithjof og Jørgen sluttet seg til i 1923. Firmaet startet med skipsmegling men drev også med skipsrederier. I 1962 delte det seg i rederi og megleri, der sønnene til Frithjof Hunter L., J. Eirik Lorentzen (1928–1987), Fridtjof Lorentzen jr. (1929–2010) og Christian Lorentzen (1948-) ble innehavere av F. H. Lorentzen & Sons.[1] Altså: Sons var J. Eirik, Fridtjof jr og Christian.
