Francisco César García Magán (født 2. februar 1962 i Madrid i Spania) er en spansk katolsk prelat og hjelpebiskop i Toledo.

Liv og virke

Francisco César García Magán studerte filosofi og katolsk teologi ved San Ildefonso-seminaret i Toledo fra 1980. Den 13. juli 1986 blr han presteviet for erkebispedømmet Toledo.[2]

García Magán fungerte som sekretær for generalvikaren og som kapellan i sognet Santa Bárbara i Toledo fra 1986 til 1988 før han ble personlig sekretær for hjelpebiskopen i Toledo, Rafael Palmero.

I 1989 ble Francisco César García Magán sendt til Roma for videre studier, hvor han oppnådde lisensiater i dogmatikk (1990) og kanonisk rett (1992) ved Det pavelige gregorianske universitet. I 1998 fikk han doktorgrad med avhandlingen Derechos de los pueblos y naciones: un ámbito de dialogue entre el derecho internacional y el magisterio de Juan Pablo II ved Lateran universitetet. Han fullførte også studier ved Det pavelige diplomatakademi fra 1995 til 1998. Parallelt med studiene arbeidet García Magán i seksjonen for generelle anliggender i Statssekretariatet fra 1991 til 1995 og som kapellan for de fransiskanske misjonærsøstre til den guddommelige hyrdes moder i Roma fra 1989 til 1998.

I 1998 gikk Francisco César García Magán inn i Den hellige stols diplomatiske tjeneste. Han ble postert til nuntiaturene til Colombia (1998–2000), Nicaragua (2000–2003), Frankrike (2003–2006) og Serbia (2006–2007).[2] García Magán underviste også ved det interdiocesane seminar i Managua fra 2002 til 2003.

I 2007 returnerte Francisco César García Magán til erkebispedømmet i Toledo, hvor han tjenestegjorde som kannik ved katedralen i Toledo (2008-2018), som biskoppelig vikar for kultur og internasjonale relasjoner (2008-2015) og som pro-generalvikar ( 2015-2020). Han var også talsmann for Kommisjonen for religionsfrihet i det spanske justisdepartement fra 2009 til 2014.[2] Fra 2010 til 2012 var han også medlem av ledergruppen for Asociación Española de Canonistas og til slutt dets visepresident fra 2012 til 2014.[3] I 2020 ble García Magán generalvikar for erkebispedømmet Toledo.[2] Han underviste også i kanonisk rett ved Universidad Eclesiástica San Dámaso i Madrid fra 2007 og ved Instituto Teológico San Ildefonso og ved Instituto Teológico de Ciencias Religiosas Santa María i Toledo fra 2008.[3]

Hjelpebiskop i Toledo

Den 15. november 2021 utnevnte pave Frans ham til titulærbiskop av Scebatiana og til hjelpebiskop i Toledo.[2] Erkebiskopen av Toledo, Francisco Cerro Chaves, ordinerte ham til biskop den 15. januar 2022 i katedralen i Toledo; medkonsekratorer var erkebiskop emeritus av Toledo, Braulio Rodríguez Plaza, og den apostoliske nuntius til Spania, erkebiskop Bernardito Cleopas Auza.

I 2019 ble Francisco César García Magán medlem av Real Academia de Jurisprudencia y Legislación.[3]
