Den gyldne ring i Russland

Den gyldne ring i Russland (russisk: Золотое кольцо России, Zolotoje koltso Rossii) er ei turistrute gjennom en rekke middelalderbyer i området nord og nordøst for Moskva. Her kan man på et relativt lite område besøke mange historiske byer med arkitektoniske skatter i form av kirker, klostre og festninger fra det 12. til det 18. århundre. Området har tidligere blitt benevnt Zalesie (russisk: Залесье).

Navnets historie: I 1967 reiste kunsthistoriker og journalist Jurij Bytsjkov gjennom byene i Vladimir Oblast for å skrive en serie reiseartikler. Den siste byen han besøkte var Jaroslavl, så ruten hans tok form av en ring. Senere publiserte han reisedokumentene sine under navnet «Den gyldne ring».[1]

Flere av disse byene har spilt en viktig rolle i dannelsen av den russisk-ortodokse kirke.

Jaroslavl jernbanestasjon i Moskva er et naturlig utgangspunkt for å besøke hele, eller deler av, den gyldne ring.
