Senatet i USA (United States Senate) er eitt av to kammer i den riksdekkjande lovgjevande forsamlinga, Kongressen. Det andre kammeret er Representanthuset. Paragraf 1 i den amerikanske grunnlova slår fast korleis Senatet og Representanthuset skal vera samansette og kva fullmakter dei har. Kvar delstat har to representantar, eller senatorar, uavhengig av folketal. Desse representantane vert valde inn for seks år. Senatval vert haldne annakvart år, der ein tredel av representantane står på val, som syter for ei kontinuerleg omrokering av samansetjinga.

Somme teoretikarar meiner at Senatet,[kven?] sidan det er mindre og representantane tener lengre periodar, får eit større handlingsrom fordi det er meir verna frå tradisjonell USA-amerikansk partipolitikk og folkeopinionen.

Senatet har fullmakter som Representanthuset ikkje har. Det er til dømes eit krav at Senatet samtykkjer i avtalar før dei kan ratifiserast. Dette kravet gjer seg òg gjeldande når ministrar og domarar i dei riksdekkjande rettsinstitusjonane skal veljast.
