Florø radio

Florø radio (LGL) var ein kystradiostasjon lokalisert i Florø i Vestland. Stasjonen vart skipa i 1938 etter krav frå Ruteskipenes Befalsforbund som følgje av mange grunnstøytingar kring Florelandet i Kinn kommune.[1]

Kystradiostasjonen var stengd under andre verdskrig, men starta att i 1945. Frå 1949 fekk stasjonen døgnvakt, og i 1969 vart den første VHF-sendaren teken i bruk. Beteninga på Florø radio hadde store kunnskapar om fiskefelt, vêrtilhøve, båtar og mannskap og spela ofte ein avgjerande rolle som redningssentral i kritiske situasjonar.[1]

På det meste hadde Florø radio 15 tilsette.[1]

Stasjonen var døgnbemanna og lytta kontinuerleg på internasjonale nød- og kallekanalar på VHF og MF. Stasjonen sitt ansvarsområde omfatta sjø- og havområda i og utanfor dåverande Sogn og Fjordane fylke og Møre og Romsdal fylke, samt Trøndelag gjennom fjernstyringa av Ørlandet radio frå 2004.[1][2]

I samband med digitalisering av tenesta og samlokalisering med Hovudredningssentralane vart Florø radio lagt ned 1. januar 2018. Florø radio sitt tidlegare ansvarsområde vert no dekt av Kystradio Sør.[3]
