Јакоб Хенрик вант Хоф

Јакоб Хенрик вант Хоф (хол. Jacobus Henricus van 't Hoff; 30 август 1852 – 1 март 1911) — холандски хемичар.[1] Добитник на Нобеловата награда по хемија во 1901 година за својата работа врз откривањето на законите на хемиската динамика и осмостскиот притисок на растворите.

Бил трето дете од седум во фамилијата на Jacobus Henricus Van't Hoff (лекар по професија)[1] и Alida Jacoba Kolff.

Во 1871 година ја завршува Високата техничка школа во Делфт. Подоцна се посветува на филозофија, поезија и математика. Почнува да студира математика, но големите хемичари од тоа време го привлекуваат неговото внимание. Во 1874 година докторира на Универзитетот во Утрехт со која ги поставува основите на стереохемијата.[1]

Вант Хоф бил член на Кралската холандска академија на науките, Пруската академија на науките, Британското кралско хемиско друштво, на Американската национална академија на науките, Американското хемиско друштво и на Француската академија на науките.

Умира во Берлин на 1 март 1911 од туберкулоза.
