Valters fon Nortekens

Livonijas mestra zīmogs ar uzrakstu "(Sigillum) (Com)MENDATORIS DOM(us) (the)VTO(nic)I IN LIVONIA" - "Teitoņu ordeņa komandiera Livonijā zīmogs".
Rābenavas Nordeku (Nordeck zur Rabenau) dzimtas ģerbonis (no "Johann Siebmachers Wappenbuch").

Valters fon Nortekens (vācu: Walter von Nortecken) vai Valters no Nordekas (latīņu: Gualterus von Nordeck, Waltherus à Nordecke) bija Teitoņu ordeņa Livonijas landmestrs no 1270. līdz 1273. gadam.

Dzīvesgājums

Nordeku dzimtas pils pie Alendorfas (Hesenē).

Dzimšanas gads nav zināms. Cēlies no Rābenavas Nordeku dzimtas,[1] kuru rezidence bija Nordekas pilī 17 km no Gīsenes, Hesenē. Pēc citām ziņām, nācis no Maincas apkārtnes. Nordeku dzimta Teitoņu ordenim bija ziedojusi vairākus zemes gabalus, un vairāki tās pārstāvji bija iestājušies Ordenī, taču tikai par Valteru zināms, ka viņš dienējis Livonijā.

Laikā no 1261. līdz 1267. bijis precēts ar Lutgardi. 1268. gadā atstāja pasaulīgo dzīvi (sieva kļuva par mūķeni), iestājās Ordenī un turpmāko dzīvi bija mūks-bruņinieks. Sākotnēji dienēja Marburgā un 1270. gadā ierodas Livonijā. Kad 1270. gadā kaujā ar lietuviešiem krīt Livonijas landmestra vietas izpildītājs Andreass no Vestfālenes, Ordeņbrāli Valteru ievēlēja par jauno landmestru.

Jau neilgi pēc ierašanās Rīgā 1270. gadā landmestrs Valters vadīja ordeņa karagājienu uz Zemgali un ieņēma Tērveti. 1271. gadā ieņem Mežotni, kas bija zaudēta pēc zemgaļu sacelšanās 1260. gadā, un Rakti. Iekarotajos pilskalnos viņš pavēl celt krustnešu nocietinājumus.

1272. gadā zemgaļu vadoņi apņemas kristīties, maksāt meslus un dienēt Ordeņa armijā. Ordera fogti apmetas zemgaļu vidū, lai pildītu tiesnešu pienākumus. Iekarotās zemgaļu zemes 1272. gadā tiek sadalītas starp Ordeni un Rīgas arhibīskapiju. 1273. Ordenis sakauj leišus kaujā pie Dubnas.

1273. gadā landmestrs Valters smagi saslimst un atgriežas Vāczemē ārstēties. Atlikušo mūžu (1273. –1287.) kalpoja Teitoņu ordeņa Marburgas konventā Hesenē. Precīzu ziņu par Valtera nāves laiku nav.

"Valters Nordeks, iecelts par mestri 1275. gadā, izdarīja daudz slavenus darbus pret šamaišiem un zemgaļiem. Viņš iekaroja un nopostīja Tērvetes un Mežotnes pili, piespieda zemgaļus viņam padoties, un sadalīja viņus starp ordeni un biskapu. Pēc 4 gadu valdīšanas viņš atteicās no amata un aizceļoja uz Prūsiju".
