Alerta Vikikrātuvē

Alerta (angļu: Alert) ir apdzīvota vieta Nunavutas teritorijā, Kanādā. Alerta ir vistālāk uz ziemeļiem esošā pastāvīgi apdzīvotā vieta pasaulē.[1] Izvietojusies Elsmīra salas ziemeļaustrumu galā Linkolna jūras krastā, 817 km attālumā no Ziemeļpola. Alertas nosaukums ir cēlies no britu kuģa HMS Alert, kas ziemoja 10 km attālumā no 1875. līdz 1876. gadam.[2]

Alertā atrodas Kanādas bruņoto spēku stacija, meteostacija un lidosta. 2016. gadā Alertā dzīvoja 62 cilvēki — pagaidu iedzīvotāji, kas Alertā veic savus darba pienākumus. Parastais uzturēšanās laiks ir seši mēneši, tad tos nomaina citi darbinieki.[2]

Vēsture

Alertas stacija izveidota pēc Otrā pasaules kara ASV un Kanādas kopīgā Apvienotā Arktikas meteoroloģisko staciju (Joint Arctic Weather Stations; JAWS) projekta ietvaros kā pēdējā no piecām Kanādas Arktikā; pārējās bija Jūrika (1947), Rezolūta (1947), Moldbeja (1948) un Izaksena (1948).[3] Materiāli stacijas izbūvei tika nogādāti paredzētajā vietā 1948. gada augustā ar amerikāņu ledlauzi Edisto, bet pirmie 12 stacijas celtnieki ieradās 1950. gada 9. aprīlī. Kā pirmais tika izbūvēts ledus skrejceļš Alertas līcī.

1956. gadā Kanādas Gaisa spēki pie Alertas lidlauka ierīkoja Attālās agrīnās brīdināšanas sistēmas staciju, bet vēlākos gados ierīkotas vēl citas militārās struktūras. ASV personāls staciju pameta 1970. gada oktobrī un jau nākamajā gadā meteostacija un lidlauks tika nodoti attiecīgo Kanādas institūciju pārziņā.[4] Stacijas apkalpojošā personāla skaits sasniedza maksimumu 1996. gadā — ap 270 cilvēku un Alerta kļuva par vienu no svarīgākajiem mezgliem militārās izlūkošanas informācijas apstrādē. Vēlākos gados liela daļa aprīkojuma tika automatizēta un personāla skaits samazinājās.

1986. gadā 6 km uz dienvidiem no Alertas tika uzbūvēta atsevišķa Neila Triveta Globālās atmosfēras novērošanas observatorija, kas aizvietoja Alertas meteostacijas novērojumu programmu.

Klimats

Alertai raksturīgs polārais klimats, sniega sega ir vidēji vismaz 10 mēnešus gadā. Februāris ir gada aukstākais mēnesis ar vidējo temperatūru –33,2 °C. Siltākajā mēnesī, jūlijā, vidējā temperatūra ir 3,4 °C. 2019. gada 14. jūlijā Alertā bija rekordaugsta temperatūra 21,0 °C. Tādējādi tika pārspēts iepriekšējais rekords 20,0 °C 1956. gada 8. jūlijā un 19,6 °C 2012. gada 18. jūlijā.[2]

Polārā nakts Alertā ilgst no 14. oktobra līdz 28. februārim, bet polārā diena — no 7. aprīļa līdz 4. septembrim. Ir divi salīdzinoši īsi krēslas periodi — no aptuveni 13. februāra līdz 22. martam un otrs no 19. septembra līdz 22. oktobrim.
