Steponas Biežis

Steponas Biežis (1889 m. kovo 18 d. Bliūdžiai, Panevėžio apskr. – 1973 m. balandžio 6 d. Čikaga) – JAV gydytojas chirurgas, lietuvių visuomenės veikėjas, medicinos daktaras (1916 m.).

Biografija

1910 m. su tėvais atvyko į JAV. 1912 m. baigė Valparaiso universitetą (Indianos valstija), 1916 m. Čikagos medicinos ir chirurgijos koledžą.

1917–1919 m. tarnavo JAV kariuomenėje, leitenantas. Dirbo Šv. Kryžiaus ligoninėje Čikagoje, 1951 m. Čikagos sanitarijos regiono vyr. gydytojas.

Amerikos lietuvių daktarų draugijos, vėliau Amerikos lietuvių gydytojų sąjungos pirmininkas, nuo 1962 m. garbės narys. 1935–1969 m. „Margučio radijo“ laidos patarėjas sveikatos klausimais. Bendradarbiavo žurnaluose „Medicina“, „Gydytojas“, nuo 1922 m. jį redagavo. 1960–1964 m. „Lietuvių gydytojų biuletenio“ vardinis redaktorius, nuo 1969 m. garbės redaktorius.[1]
