Wasalu Muhammad Jaco (geriau žinomas sceniniu vardu Lupe Fiasco, g. 1982 m. vasario 16 d. Čikagoje) – amerikiečių Hip-Hop atlikėjas. 2024 m. duomenimis, atlikėjas yra išleidęs devynis studijinius albumus, iš kurių naujausiasis, „Samurai“, išleistas 2024 m. birželį.[1]

Biografija

Lupe Fiasco gimė 1982 m. Augo vakarinėje Čikagos dalyje. Wasalu Jaco yra penktas vaikas šeimoje, kurią sudaro devyni vaikai. Jis pradėjo repuoti būdamas aštuntoje klasėje. Augant, Jaco buvo duotas slapyvasrdis „Lu“, vėliau gimė ir idėja pasivadinti Lupe Fiasco, prie vardo prisidėjo ir Jaco motina ir draugai.

Muzikinė karjera

Būdamas 19 metų, buvo grupėje „Da Pak“. Prieš išsiskirdami jie pasirašė sutartį su Epic Records ir išleido vieną singlą. Vėliau, Fiasco pasirašė solo sutartį su Arista Records, bet buvo paleistas, po kompanijos vadovo L. A. Reid atleidimo. Tačiau per tą laiką jis spėjo įrašyti daug dainų, kurios jam padėjo išleisti dainų rinkinius. Taip Lupe Fiasco sudarė savo fanų ratą internete.

Food & Liquor

Leidimo problemos

Lupe Fiasco patirties stoka lėmė tai, kad albumas pasiekė internetą net pusmečiu anksčiau nei turėtų. Pirmą kart – 2006 metų kovą, o vėliau gegužę. Pats atlikėjas nebuvo labai piktas, sakydamas, kad iš klaidų mokomasi. Originali albumo versija internetą pasiekė rugsėjo 10 d.

Apdovanojimai

2008 vasario 10 d. daina "Daydreamin'" (su Jill Scott) laimėjo Grammy apdovanojimą už geriausią dainą Urban/Alternative kategorijoje.

The Cool

Po poros metų pertraukos Fiasco grįžo su antruoju albumu The Cool, kuris buvo išleistas 2007 m. gruodžio 18 d. Albume buvo kviestinės žvaigždės kaip Snoop Dogg, Matthew Santos, Sarah Green, GemStones ir kiti mažiau populiarūs atlikėjai. Jau pirmąją savaitę albumas buvo liaupsinamas kritikų, vertinamas aukštais balais.

Albumas per pirmą savaitę buvo parduotas 144,000 kopijų tiražu, Billboarde debiutavo 15 pozicijoje.
